John W. Davis, 90, retired Crawfordsville area farmer, died Thursday afternoon in Culver Hospital after a two-month illness. He resided on Rt. 4. Mr. Davis was educated in Crawfordsville schools and was a member of the former Roberts Church. He was born here April 30, 1880, a son of William and Cecelia Kohl Davis. He was married Oct. 11, 1904, to Mary J. Gilliland. Surviving are his widow; three brothers, Harry of Bloomington, Paul of DeQuoin, Ill., and Fred of Lafayette, and a sister, Mrs. Josephine Conroy of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Powers Funeral Home here with Rev. John Servies officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home. – jlr
